MY COMFORT FILMS/SHOWS

We all have that movies/shows that we never get tired of watching, and we practically know all the scenes, what’s going to happen, and memorized all the lines. We somehow feel good when we watch these certain films, it makes us feel cozy.

So, I’m sharing with you my comfort films/shows that I have watched for a million times and I still can’t get enough of them.

The Last Five Years

This is originally a broadway musical turned into a movie starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan back in 2014. It is a story about a couple’s journey in their relationship, how it started and how it ended within 5 years. I love how the story telling goes backward and forward in the movie. This movie has minimal dialogue, it’s mostly songs. Most people compare it to La La Land because of the plot and everything but I think The Last Five Years is better in terms of storyline and the songs. La La Land has the visuals.

I don’t know why this is my go to movie when I feel a bit sad. I love musicals but this movie hit so hard in my feels. Sometimes I just want to sing sad songs and be in a musical 😂

Rise Of The Guardians

Yes, this is an animated movie but this is one of the best! I had a crush on Jack Frost ☺️❤️ lol.

For those who don’t know this movie, it’s about the mythical characters most of us grew up believing such as Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Sandman, and Jack Frost. They are known as the “Guardians” in the movie. The movie’s plot was about defeating the boogeyman who’s goal was to make children stop believing in the “Guardians”, which kills the joy, imagination, and dreams of the children.

I really like this film, it has such a great concept. It makes me wish that I was a kid again.

50 First Dates

I probably would add all of Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s films, but I guess I have to pick one.

50 First Dates is a romantic comedy about a girl named Lucy who has a type of amnesia that makes her relive today all over again when she sleeps. She’s not able to create new memories. So, when she meets Henry she has no recollection of meeting him when she wakes up the next day. This movie is so cute as Henry needs to reintroduce himself to Lucy everyday (isn’t that so sweet?).

Anyways, my sister introduced this film to me and since then I fell in love with their tandem without realizing that they were also the ones who were on The Wedding Singer which I also loved.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Okay, I must say that this show was really the one that got me obsessed to the point that I watched all 10 seasons of it, and I will watch it all over again as soon as I finish it. (I’m not exaggerating, ask anyone I know). I still laugh at the punchlines every time lol.

This show is about 6 friends living in New York trying to go through silly problems about relationships & career. This show will probably be unappreciated in today’s time as this got criticized over sensitive topics that back in the 90’s was not a big issue. And I don’t support the show about it, I was also disappointed at certain episodes and characters but looking past that, it is a great and fun show to watch. It really lifts me up every time I feel down.

These are the films that I watch every time I feel like lying down and wanting something familiar to comfort my mood.

What’s your comfort film/shows? 😊

SOCIAL MEDIA ‘RANT’ (1/3) | DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE?

In a world being publicize, an opinionated world and a world slowly losing the value of privacy and personal space do you still know who you are?

Internet and social media are a great way to connect to other people, to be updated about their lives and to keep up with the current trends but it’s also a place where it can easily influence your choices and perspective on things. Everything is being publicize through the internet especially lives of celebrities that maybe some of us admire what they do and we think it is cool. How some of us want to imitate their lifestyle but do you think imitating such people will lead you to defining or finding yourself or will you just be another one of a clone of somebody’s image?

It is great to express yourself in anyway you can and right now Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat etc. are some of those that can help you do that. You can state your opinion out there, share your life— it’s a free country anyways. But are you sharing to express or to just show people you have a life? Are you proving something? Do you need to prove something? Are you one of those who fakes an Instagram post for the sake of likes?

We can all agree that we can find a lot of things in the internet— helpful things and there are things that can be quite harmful to our beliefs and personal opinion. It is a free country and we can state our opinion on things but we can’t ignore that there are people out there that will contradict to what we have to say. It will hurt our beliefs, it will make us question what we truly believe in and worst it will change those beliefs and that’s the time we’ll lose the sense of ourself.

In the internet it is easy to stalk people, to imitate other people’s lifestyle, to be obsessed and to lose ourself. That’s why I found these few people who took a step away from social media for awhile to have their lives back:

(1) Hayley Williams of Paramore recently told in an interview (3:40 mark) about taking a few months off from social media to disconnect and to find herself again because apparently lots of people throw their opinion and she doesn’t need that, according to her it’s a self-preservation.

(2) Ed Sheeran took a year off social media explaining in an Instagram post. According to him he was seeing the world through the screen and wanted to explore more. And recently deleted his Twitter account.

(3) Taylor Swift was on a hiatus and she clearly had been off the grid and was taking her personal time effectively. But now she’s back and deleted all the content of her social media.

Here is a list by Newsday of celebrities who took a break and deactivated their social media accounts.

Celebrities Who’ve Quit Social Media

Take a step back as well for awhile, ask those questions to yourself. Who are you without social media?

The whole point of this article is are you what you are on social media?

This is 1/3 of my “rants” about social media. I found myself writing about the “toxicity” of it so please bear with me on this and on my views about it and if we don’t have the same view about it, please don’t hate me lol.

“ARE YOU SERIOUS?”

Sometimes other people’s mentality surprises me not in the amazing way but in a way that makes you roll your eyes and makes you do a face-palm, I also can’t believe how shallow people can get like “are you serious?” — I sometimes want to be frank and just tell them to shut up (not really) but it sometimes annoys me and I try to remind myself to just breathe and just be understanding and respectful towards other people’s views until my feeling of annoyance subsides.

Okay, I have this person in my life who is very full of himself and sometimes his mentality on certain things are very shallow or sometimes he just sees the issue as one sided (his version only) I sometimes try to talk to him and respectfully point out his wrong or just state my point of view but when I sense that he’s not gonna let the issue go I’m the one who lets it go because I know I’m never gonna hear the end of it and I just hope that he’ll figure it out himself. I don’t know how you handle these kind of people, I sometimes just want to erase them in my life ’cause I think they’re toxic but I have a strong belief in kindness and these “toxic” people need more of that. I just have to double up my patience and understanding toward these kind of people or I probably should just forget about them, should I?

LATE NIGHT QUESTIONS: WHAT IS THE POINT OF LIFE?

Here I am again with my late night thoughts. I was thinking of starting to read a book but instead I decided to just write. Venting out at around 2am, mostly contemplating and asking myself questions about logical explanation on things like what’s the point of all of these? What’s the point of life? I just started to think about the point of life when it’s all going to end at some time. Because everything that we have right now won’t even matter if we can’t even take it with us when we die.

They say it’s the legacy that we will leave behind, the memory and how you made an impact in the world but does it really matter? Is it that we live to be too conscious on how we will be remembered after we’re gone? Is that the point of life? Is that the point that we’re doing all of the things that we’re doing right now?

Then there’s the afterlife that I don’t really know if I should believe in it. Life is just so fascinating and intriguing. Well it’s currently around 2am right now and I’m asking myself those questions lol. It’s amazing how our brain works at this time of the hour and how we contemplate on things just to find answers or in some cases have more questions.

What is the point of life for you? Share it in the comments maybe. 😉
