I WRITE BETTER THAN I SPEAK

Do I make sense when
I open my mouth
and tell you things
a bit too loud?

Things that are
supposed to be ordinary
but in a way I talk about it
sounds so silly.

I mumble on my words
but in my brain that’s
not how it works.

Constructed phrases
come out as random verses—
It’s all a mess.

It’s a bit uncoordinated—
my mind and my lips
forgive me when there
are times my words slip.

It’s best to read
it on a paper
you’ll probably
understand me better.

  1. The struggle is definitely real, not only in expressing myself clearly, but also about this topic in itself. Sometimes I feel that written words can’t convey the same emotion or urgency or any of the characteristics that speaking can. But then I remember how much of an awkward speaker I am, and go back to thinking writing is better. 😅
