Started off with
a blank page.
a blank page.
With life as a pen
it filled the leaves
it filled the leaves
Of memories that we’ll
remember as we age.
No one can take it away
not even thieves.
Divided into
different chapters.
Either we want
to erase or bookmark.
Either to keep
or to just tear.
But we’ll probably
just laugh as we look back.
There are parts
we wish to repeat.
Moments we
want to relieve.
Memories that
cannot be beat.
And lives we
want to retrieve.
We can look back at those
But we can’t redo it
As a chapter goes
We must close it.
But we open a new one
and as time goes by
We might come to a point
and say “I’m done”.
Put down the pen
and say goodbye.
Started off with
a blank page.
But life as a pen
it dried out
Ending again with
a blank page.
“…lives we want to retrieve…” Love that line! This is a fantastic poem, great work!
